It’s been almost 25 years since I walked into the Sandals & Beaches, Miami office to interview for a Reservation Sales Agent position. After the first-round interview some of us were invited to the 2nd floor to listen to experienced agents interact with customers calling in to 1-800-Sandals. I was lucky enough to sit with an older Jamaican man. His name was John Paul Graham aka Scratch, he had a thick Jamaican accent, long greying dreadlocks and his interaction with callers was amazing. His explanations were colorful and thorough, he was funny, friendly, and best of all some of these calls ended with customers booking what would likely go on to be a dream vacation. I knew this was what I wanted to do!

Over the next 6 years, I traveled to every Sandals and Beaches resort multiple times and experienced everything they had to offer. I wore various hats at Sandals. Initially, I was one of the top 5 sales agents, I then worked with Sandals’ top Travel Agent accounts to help them drive business, I helped with call center operations in both the UK and St Lucia and if you go to sandals.com today and see a button to ‘Chat’ – that was me who brought that to life – and very proud it’s still here today.

Best of all I made friendships that would continue through to today (shout out the Circle – Bryan, Ronnie, Spoogs) and discovered a love for travel that has since taken me all over the world with 80 countries visited.

Fast forward to 2019, and my now wife introduced me to my very first cruise. Can you believe living in Miami, the cruise capital of the world and never cruising once in 20 years? Yup, that was me. My first cruise was a Silver Sea voyage to the Caribbean – we now have about 200 nights sailed all around the world from the Arctic to Antarctica to The Galapagos Islands to New Zealand, Fiji and Europe.
